How to Plan Recruitment Travel and School Visits
The School of Music is developing a coordinated approach to recruitment travel and school visits.
Before Planning Recruitment Travel
Contact Zeb Watkins when considering a recruitment trip or school visit.
Provide information about:
- Schools or communities you plan to visit
- Approximate travel dates
- Purpose of the visit
- Recruitment activities you expect to conduct
- Existing relationships with teachers, directors, or programs in the area
Why Recruitment Travel Is Coordinated
Recruitment travel should contribute to a broader School recruitment strategy rather than consist only of isolated visits.
The School is working to document:
- Schools currently sending students to NDSU
- Schools and geographic areas that may warrant additional attention
- Existing faculty recruitment travel
- Opportunities to coordinate multiple recruitment activities
- Patterns in where prospective and enrolled students originate
This information will be used to develop more comprehensive recruitment travel plans.
If You Already Conduct Recruitment Travel
Tell Zeb about recurring trips, school visits, festivals, clinics, or other recruitment activities that are already part of your work.
Even if no additional support is needed, documenting these activities helps create an accurate picture of the School's recruitment presence.
